7 Sacraments

• Baptism - the Sacrament by which a baby or person is cleansed or original sin and made a member of God's family - the Church. This is done with holy water in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. 

• Confirmation - the Sacrament that confirms a baptized person as a fully mature member of the Catholic Church. Its aim is to strengthen his/her faith and equip them for service in the Church and the world. Children who grow up in the Church typically receive Confirmation as an early teen after years of religious education (or catechesis).
• First Eucharist - the Sacrament of Sacraments, it is our daily bread that sustains us on our spiritual journey toward heaven. Catholics receive the Eucharist for the first time at their First Holy Communion, which usually happens at around age 7-8.

• Reconciliation / Penance - the Sacrament commonly known as Confession is when Catholics confess their sin and receive absolution from a priest. It is not the priest himself who forgives sins - it is God administering His grace sacramentally through the priest. 
• Anointing of the Sick - the Sacrament commonly associated with Last Rites, yet this sacrament is not limited to the end of life. Anyone seriously ill can receive the Anointing of the Sick as a way of receiving strength to face their suffering with courage and hope.

• Marriage - the Sacrament when a man and a woman confer their love for each other and witness Christ's love for His Bride - the Church. Their commitment is a reflection of the Holy Trinity - a community of persons bound in love. 
• Holy Orders - the Sacrament which ordains a man to be a priest, a deacon, or a bishop, commissioned to serve God and the Church. It is usually not a matter of choice, but of a generous and self-sacrificially response to God's call.
