This ministry provides our parishioners with a true opportunity to function as lay ministers by reverently assisting the celebrant and/or deacon during Mass and at special liturgies throughout the year. Both youth and adult altar servers assist the celebrant by participating in the entrance and offertory processions, helping to prepare the altar for the Eucharist, holding the book of prayers throughout Mass, ringing bells during the Consecration, and standing with the priest and Eucharistic Ministers during Communion. Young parishioners who wish to serve on the altar must have already received their First Holy Communion. If you wish to consider this ministry, please contact Youth Coordinator Fr. Bernie.
These lay people are sometimes referred to as Eucharistic Ministers. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion serve by bringing communion to parishioners who reside in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or in their own homes and unable to get to church. They also may assist the priest in distributing the Eucharist at Mass. If you wish to consider this ministry, please contact coordinator Mary Bracken.
Lectors proclaim the Word of God clearly and understandably so that all who hear may respond. If you wish to consider this ministry, please contact coordinator Mary Bracken.
These ministers are sometimes referred to as Greeters. Being a welcoming community is very important to St. Leo's. Ushers are the first face of the parish as they greet visitors and parishioners walking into our church. They offer assistance to those who have special needs, distribute parish bulletins, take up the collection, and distribute other materials as needed. If you wish to consider this ministry, please contact the parish office.
